Chance meeting with shaman paves way to true healing for rape survivor

Streams of personal healing fill the pages of author Cindy L. Herb’s newly released autobiographical Awakening the Spirit:  The Open Wide Like a Floozy Chronicles.

Scarred by a childhood rife with the pain of rape and molestation along with unrelenting neglect, the author emerged into adulthood with a damaged and fragmented soul.

After a chance meeting with a shaman in 2007, Herb began writing a cathartic journal of traumatic life experiences, particularly those centered on a childhood rape, which occurred while working as a carrier for a newspaper in Dallas.

“What evolved from that journey was the book,” says the author from her home in DeSoto, Texas. “My wish is that it provides encouragement to those who, like me, bear the wounds of a painful past and an uncertain future.”

It was the simple process of uncovering the bitter roots of her suffering that led the author to a place of true healing. In the book Herb, who has plans for a lecture series and additional books in the near future, shows readers how refusing to carry the weight of others’ sins enables them to enter into their own healing path.

Awakening the Spirit: The Open Wide Like a Floozy Chronicles was published by The P3 Press, a division of Brown Books Publishing Group, an independent publisher based in Dallas, TX.
